Prophet Dewald Gouws is a prophetic voice, spiritual leader, and the lead pastor of Awaken Church in Stellenbosch, South Africa. His life and ministry are marked by a deep passion for the presence of God, an unwavering commitment to the authority of Scripture, and a desire to see people encounter the transforming power of Jesus Christ.
At the heart of his calling is a conviction that Christianity is more than religious tradition or outward performance: it is a living relationship with Jesus Christ, established in truth, sustained by the Holy Spirit, and expressed through a life of obedience to God.
Prophet Dewald is married to Marizane, and together they lead Awaken Church in Stellenbosch, building according to obedience, not preference: committed to sound Scripture and the active power of the Holy Spirit. They share their lives with their son, Zephan.

A life devoted to God's presence, His Word, and His purpose
Prophet Dewald is committed to seeing people move beyond knowing about God to personally encountering Him, and to raising disciples who carry His presence and reveal His Kingdom in everyday life.
Built on obedience, not preference
For him, ministry is not about building a platform or a reputation, but faithfully stewarding what God has entrusted to him. He believes genuine transformation happens where biblical truth and the active power of the Holy Spirit are embraced together.
Awakening identity, raising disciples
Through biblical teaching, prophetic encouragement and discipleship, he helps believers move from insecurity to confidence in Christ, and from attending church to actively participating in the purposes of God: living from intimacy with the Father rather than striving for acceptance.
The prophetic & the Holy Spirit
He holds that every expression of spiritual gifting must stay submitted to Scripture and reflect the character of Jesus, operating with purity, humility, accountability and love, so that people encounter the God behind the supernatural.
Leading Awaken Church
Together with Marizane, he leads a church family where people from different backgrounds can encounter Jesus, grow in Scripture and find their place in the body of Christ. His desire is not merely growth in attendance, but people growing in Christ, families strengthened and leaders developed.

He believes no one fulfils God's purpose in isolation. Honour, humility and spiritual accountability shape his leadership, along with a passion for raising leaders who serve with integrity rather than ambition, and who will in turn invest in others.

Pastor Clint Ross is Prophet Dewald's spiritual father. He founded the Global Wisdom Centre in Cape Town, and his passion and assignment is to teach the wisdom of God to the body of Christ.
With more than 20 years in business leadership before full-time ministry, he is known as a keynote speaker for both business and church audiences, delivering practical teaching people can apply immediately.
He is himself a spiritual son of Dr Mike Murdock of The Wisdom Centre in Fort Worth, Texas.

Truth & Presence
We carry Pentecostal and Charismatic conviction. We believe the Bible is the authoritative Word of God revealing Jesus Christ; salvation is by grace through faith alone; the Holy Spirit is active and powerful today; and spiritual gifts are for today, in the Church and in the marketplace.

We believe the Bible (Old and New Testament) is divinely inspired, God-breathed, and the final authority for faith, doctrine, and life. We remain receptive to the Holy Spirit's illumination as He reveals truth through the Word.

The Godhead
We believe in one true God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—eternal, uncreated, and unchanging: one in essence and three in persons, equal in power and glory.

We believe God is Father in creation, and Father to believers through redemption in Jesus Christ. Through Christ we are adopted into His family and can know Him intimately.

We believe Jesus Christ is Lord—fully God and fully man—virgin-born, sinless, crucified for our sins, raised bodily from the dead, ascended to the Father, and returning in glory.

The Creation & Fall of Humankind
We believe all people are created in the image of God and equal in dignity. Through sin, humanity fell and is separated from God, unable to save itself by works.

We believe salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Through His atoning death and resurrection we receive forgiveness, reconciliation, new birth, and a new identity in Christ.

Water Baptism
We believe water baptism by immersion is a command of Jesus for believers—an act of obedience and a public identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection.

Communion
We believe communion is a regular remembrance and proclamation of Jesus' finished work—celebrating His covenant, His resurrection life, and our unity as His body.

The Baptism in the Holy Spirit
We believe the baptism in the Holy Spirit is distinct from the new birth, empowering believers for witness and ministry. We believe speaking in tongues is the initial physical evidence, and we welcome all gifts of the Spirit today.

Sanctification
We believe believers are called to holiness. Sanctification is both positional in Christ and progressive by the Spirit, forming Christlike character and Spirit-led obedience.

We believe the devil is a real fallen being and the enemy of God's people. Through Jesus, believers have authority to resist him and walk in freedom.
